Happy New Year to all!
I just wanted to share with you a fun and new wafer paper design, at fancyflours.com. It is a perfectly wintery blue floral scroll pattern that looks delightful on a snowflake sugar cookie. As always, applying wafer paper is a piece of cake (or cookie!).
Simply bake and cool snowflake cookies as usual. Try our No Fail Sugar Cookie recipe (it is delicious and holds its shape).
Ice each cookie using an icing or frosting of your choice. A frosting or icing that dries hard and smooth will work best for wafer paper. We like Royal Icing Mix.
Next use the same cookie cutter you used to cut out your cookie shapes to trace (with a food grade pencil) the shape onto the wafer paper. Carefully use craft scissors to cut out each shape.
Using light corn syrup or edible clear gel use your finger to make a smooth thin layer on the back of each wafer paper cut-out. Affix each cut-out to top of cookie shape.
Flip cookies upside down onto a piece of wax paper (this will ensure the wafer paper dries flat, without wrinkles).
Leave for about 20-30 minutes, then flip right-side up and let continue to dry overnight.
Stack and store in a airtight container.
Can you transfer paper to a fondant decorated cookie? If anyone knows, please e-mail. Thnx
