Polish Family Buttercream Frosting
A twist on buttercream frosting, this recipe is sure to please. It is light and fluffy, but not too sweet!
You will need:
• 1/4 cup flour
• 1 cup milk • 2/3 cup granulated sugar
• 1/2 lb. butter
• 1-2 tsp. vanilla
• Cream cheese (optional)
Instructions:
• Cook 1/4 cup flour and 1 cup of milk on a low heat, whisking constantly until all lumps have disappeared and the mixture has turned to a thick paste. Set aside until fully cooled.
•Cream 1/2# butter and 2/3cup sugar until you have a smooth, creamy yellow whipped consistency. Add small teaspoons of paste and mix with the butter mixture until all the paste has been added. Add 1-2 tsp. of vanilla. The final texture should be lighter than traditional butter cream frostings and only moderately sweet.
•Option: You can also add softened cream cheese at the end to change the flavor.
I don’t see the sugar listed on the ingredients; I assume it’s 2/3 but is it granulated or confectioners?
Hello!
I am terribly sorry for the error. It is corrected now. The recipe includes 2/3 cup granulated sugar.
Thank You for your understanding.
There used to be a polish bakery in my neighborhood and their cakes would have a light buttercream and also brown crumbs around the cakes. The baker would tell me its cake crumbs. I could never get her to tell me how she prepares the cake crumb to put around the cake. Would you happen to know or have a recipe to place this brown cake crumbs around a buttercream cake.
Hi there – We don’t have a recipe like that unfortunately. Have you tried looking for it online? You might be able to find some kind of recipe for cake crumbs. I’m sorry I wasn’t more help.
